One of the best sources that I’ve found for interesting new music has to be the hypem.com website. Its runs on some sort of script that pull in various various music blog stories. The twist is that the blog websites have songs imbedded into the articles and they show up on the hypem.com website. Great site and a great resource.

New radiohead - pay one dollar just do it
October 12th, 2007 ·
Ya you should be buying it. If you’re a fan of Radiohead its great.
But even if you’re not a fan why not buy it. Show the music industry that you don’t need twenty different layers of middleman sticking their finger into the pie. This direct download is the way of the future. If only a few more big acts kicked some industry butt and did the same thing. U2 where the hell are you?
Jose the Swede
September 28th, 2007 ·
Jose Gonzalez the super smooth Swede is releasing a new album this month. You can hear most of the tunes on his myspace page right now. He’s touring heavily to promote the album which could lead to some good sales but I see him suffering from that hell hole of broadcasting. What format does he fit into? Whatever its good stuff.
Not rock but hell its Glen
September 26th, 2007 ·
Its not rock but in his time Glenn Gould lived life like a true rock star. The CBC in Canada has a series of shows over the next few days that honour and try to explain a little bit about this great musician, Glenn Gould.
Well worth a listen for a change of pace. Check out the CBC.ca and than Radio two for more details. Plus you can listen to the same show across the five different Canadian time zones which makes things interesting.

Free Great Lake Swimmers - really free GLS
September 12th, 2007 ·
Yes thats right. I found out that the Great Lake Swimmers are offering a free download of a show in Toronto. Ok its only only five songs but its great stuff.
The link takes you directly to the download from nettwerk records click here. The file is about 31MB.
The songs are VERY well produced for a live show. It was recorded at Toronto’s Church of the Redeemer. One of my fav Great Lake Swimmers songs Various Stages is the best best tune IMHO.

Another great show thats available online is the kexp.org world music show called Wo’ Pop. Its on every Tuesday evening at 6:00pm Seattle time. But since its on kexp.org you can listen again whenever you like. I nice mix of world music that really covers different genres of music. Its not just some three hour latin jazz world music show.
Arcade Fire live on the BBC
July 2nd, 2007 ·
The BBC has a pretty massive amount of Arcade Fire footage on their site right now. The band recorded a live set in front of an audience at the BBC’s Maida Vale studio. The recording was done for the BBC Radio 2 station. The website streams Arcade Fire video and audio from the set.
The set is pretty good, it even has one of my fav Arcade Fire songs, No Cars Go.
The link to the main page of of the BBC site will all the details on the songs played is; www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/events/arcadefire/ . Not sure how long the audio and video will stay online but its up right now.

Peterson again - Heavy Hitter Funk Mix
June 1st, 2007 ·
As you know I’m a big fan of Gilles Peterson’s weekly two hour broadcast on the BBC. I’ve noticed that the BBC play it again feature now has a new special option (at least it does this week). Peterson Heavy Hitter Funk Mix is 36 minutes of the two hour show that you can listen to. It a nice feature for those folks who can’t listen to all two hours all at once.
Back to 77
April 19th, 2007 ·
Looking to move back to 77 and all that raw musical power? well the BBC has another great show buried away on its programming schedule.
Mickey Bradley from the famour Undertones punk band has a show on BBC radio Ulster. Since he was there during 77 he’s a good host. The Undertones are now most famous for having made John Peel’s most favourite song ever, Teenage Kicks.
Hopefully Don Letts show will move in the same direction, good tunes with some tales.
I’ll include as direct link HERE since its kind of hard to find the show via the website. The show is available via the BBC’s play it again feature so you can listen whenever you want.
From Letts to Classical
April 17th, 2007 ·
After listening to the BBC’s various indy music shows you might need a change of pace and try out some classical music on the BBC. The problem is that the BBC keeps cutting into the shows with information or quite simply the classical music they are playing is not really what you are looking for.
Well I would suggest that you look on the old internet for some high quality classical music downloads. The advantage with shopping for MP3 files is that you can map a better selection of tunes that you would not find by simply streaming some classical music radio stations.
